Mutt is officially my favoritest email program ever. Go get yourself a UNIX shell account somewhere and read all your mail with mutt. It's ten gazillion times faster than (shudder) Hotmail or Yahoo!

Here's why (mostly for ephemeral_ether, but I figured others might have fun with it too.

Funny that you mention it - I'm in the process of switching from elm to mutt this very week. This makes Damon very happy, and I'm enjoying threading. I'm also (finally) getting up to speed with procmail, and it's already significantly changed my email experience for the better.

I just can't imagine ever using a desktop client for email. Bare Bones has an excellent one (and the Mac OSX mail is nearly as good), but I love the power of a real shell client and the fact that I'm only an ssh hop away from my mail no matter where I am.

Through whom do you have your UNIX shell account?

Through whom might I get one?

spaceship.com. It's a cooperative of sorts. I still haven't signed my paperwork.

Yup. I've been using Mutt for a few years now. It sure is spiffy.

I even went to the same college as Michael Elkins, creator of Mutt. A quote: "All mail clients suck. This one just sucks less. - ME, 1995"
