Lazyweb request: graphical file manager with sort by regex

Does anyone know of a graphical file manager, preferably with a means of displaying file information in columnar form, that would allow me to sort not just by clicking on a column heading, but by sorting by entering some text for the filename to match? Preferably, the resulting display would be sorted alphabetically by the matching portion of the filename, but I'd settle for matching filenames to appear first (in alpha order), followed by the non-matching filenames (also in alpha order).

second-best: just providing a means for filtering out files with names matching some expression (and then sorting by columns) might be good enough, but that doesn't quite do the trick.

bonus survey question: How do you prefer to handle pruning large collections of files when (for whatever reason) a command-line interface is not an option?

don't know about the sort-by-regex, but I use windows commander, robocopy gui, and richcopy (internal MS tool) when I need to do bulk file stuff.

I've thought of another approach I might take: there are some file managers out there that allow you to write plug-ins.
