mood: hopefulhopeful
music: Peter Schilling - The Noah Plan

So, if you're in San Francisco today, like because you live there or something, drop by Bruce Sterling's seminar, "The Singularity: Your Future as a Black Hole". He's every bit as inscrutable and snarky as I am, but he's funnier, and always an interesting public speaker. You might want a stiff drink before and after. Sneak in a flask if you need booze with your engineering.
Time: Coffee bar opens at 7pm, lecture begins promptly at 8pm. (With an unticketed lecture it is advisable to come early for a good seat.)

Where: Fort Mason, San Francsico (Seminars will be held in varying locations at Fort Mason. Call The Long Now Offices for details, or just follow the signs.)

Donations: A $10 donation is very welcome as [The Long Now Foundation] produces these events at a loss, but it is certainly NOT required for attendance. (Cash or check accepted at the door, or you can make a donation ahead of time on our Donation Page)

Why: The purpose of the series is to build a coherent, compelling body of ideas about long-term thinking, to help nudge civilization toward Long Now's goal of making long-term thinking automatic and common instead of difficult and rare.

At first I read ..."Your Future As A Black Hole"...as..."Your Future As A Black Hair".

I guess both sayings make about as much sense, out of context.
